Classic Film Review: Now, Voyager

(The above photo was not taken by me [obviously] and I don't take the credit for it. I simply have the poster/photo here to promote the film as I feel it deserves attention).

Now, Voyager is a true gem, a film that keeps on making you think about it. The music grabs your heart (and, apparently, it grabbed an Academy Award).

Bette Davis gave a stunning performance as Charlotte Vale. Paul Henreid was simply fabulous as well and really captured my attention.

I was rooting for Charlotte Vale through the whole movie. What a loveable heroine, and how easy it is to relate to Bette Davis' superb acting as Vale. Henreid's "Jerry" was absolutely marvelous.

All in all, I am so glad that I watched this film and would highly recommend it. It truly embodies the Walt Whitman poem that the title was taken from.

I feel it is best to go into this film without knowing anything about it, thus I will only say that I loved it and that one must see it to appreciate it. What a joy it was to go on the voyage!

Review: Gucci's Flora Perfumes

Yesterday I came across a collection of Gucci's Flora Fragrances. All of the scents were packaged together with each bottle containing .5 oz. I must say that I was overjoyed to see this collection as I love all the scents in the Flora collection; however, it seemed impractical to me to buy all the scents in the bigger sizes. This seemed the perfect opportunity to discover what scent I liked the most other than Gorgeous Gardenia which I already own. (You can read my review of it here). I am absolutely pleased with my purchase as every single scent is a lovely, beautiful scent. I feel like a walking bouquet when I wear these fragrances.
As shown in the images, here is a list of the scents.
Glamorous Magnolia
Gracious Tuberose
Glorious Mandarin
Generous Violet
Gorgeous Gardenia

The packaging is simply lovely, and I am just absolutely enjoying all of these perfumes and would highly recommend these fragrances to anyone who loves floral perfumes. Definitely check these scents out next time you are perfume shopping!

Art History Reads

It is always a joy to read books that are about different periods in Art History. Today, I am showing only the books that are about more "modern" art. Impressionist art is always really interesting and beautiful to read about and look at. I only have one book about Art Deco so far, but as I love it so much, I am sure there will be additions later on. Here is a list of the books in the pictures.
Fashion in Impressionist Paris by Debra N. Mancoff
The Magic of Monet's Garden by Derek Fell
Impressionism: Painting Quickly in France 1860-1890 by Richard R. Brettell
Art Deco: The Golden Age of Graphic Art & Illustration by Michael Robinson
Neo-Impressionisten by Ellen Wardwell Lee

What is on your to-read stack? And what is your favorite period in Art History? I couldn't pick, but maybe you have something that stands out!

Review: Lorac Pro Palette

As you will tell from the pictures of this palette, I have used this palette quite a bit since it was given to me by my sister in September. There is a color for pretty much any look you could want. The colors are so nicely pigmented and they really go on the lid so creamily. I am a huge fan and I use this palette pretty much every single day!

Charcoal, Black, Jade, and Cocoa are really intense colors that are perfect for smoky eye looks!

Plum, Navy, Chrome, and Silver are all really wonderful colors.

Cool Gray, Nectar, Rose, and Mocha are all perfect neutral colors and, as you can see, I have used them quite a bit already!

Buff, Lt. Brown, Snow, and Beige are all such perfect base colors!

All in all, I am truly very impressed by this palette and would highly recommend it to anyone curious about it.

Artist Spotlight: Samantha J. Hahn

I absolutely love the book Well-Read Women with illustrations by Samantha J. Hahn. It has the most beautiful watercolor paintings representing heroines from literary masterpieces. It is so fun to look through.
Additionally, I really love the planner that Hahn illustrated. It is absolutely darling, and I love the typewriter painting on the front cover!

I would highly recommend you visit Hahn's website and her instagram to view more of her work - or even order her books! I cannot recommend highly enough!

Classic Movies: The Bogie and Bacall Collection

I recently purchased this collection of Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall films. It contains, as the pictures display:
The Big Sleep
Dark Passage
Key Largo
To Have and Have Not

I have seen all of these films except Key Largo; however, I plan to watch it soon! The movies I have seen are simply marvelous. It is always a joy to watch Bogart and Bacall together.
What are some of your favorite classic actors/actresses?
